Aleah wiped the sweat from her brow as she watched her lazy and dwindling flock graze around her. A dozen having fallen prey to things that lurk in the night, she was down to four. Frowning, she tossed her staff, stretching out on the warm surface and doing her best to ignore the itch of the cloth that hung from her too thin body. She had been curvy once, a full belly every night, downing sweets like swine... But that was before her Mother passed. Before her Father gambled away their money. Her siblings had long since left, and often times she would find herself sitting in this very spot wondering why she lingered... Forcing off the thoughts that were beginning to burrow into her mind, she closed her eyes and dozed.
